Another Take on Spiritual Gifts

The primary line of today's preaching is that Jesus did signs and miracles during his earthly ministry to prove he was divine. That just isn't the case. Jesus was born as a man, and ministered as a Jewish prophet. Sure, he was (and is) the second person of the Godhead, but Paul writes that he emptied himself and became a man. The writer of Hebrews shows us he had to do so in order to save us.

Those facts lend themselves to a different take on the gifts of the Spirit. The gifts weren't not just for a chosen few, but constitute God adding his testimony to the message of the Gospel. In this episode, Peter Smythe teaches about the gift of faith, and how that gift was manifested in the Old Testament, in the Acts of the Apostles, and in Jesus' own ministry.
